in A bid to see three bears safe in Scotland one young girl has raised over £400 to fly them home for Christmas.

Eva Eaglesham (6) from Winchburgh loves going to the Five Sisters Zoo in Gavieside and wanted to get involved in their fundraising effort to rescue three circus bears who have spent most of their lives in cramped cages. Suzy, Carmen and Peggy are currently in a Belgian holding centre, and the Five Sisters Zoo has launched an £80,000 appeal to bring them home for Christmas. To do her bit, Eva in P3 at Winchburgh Primary, had a jumble sale at her Craigton Place home last weekend with mum June (36) and dad Simon (37).

June said: “Eva had been to the recent zoo fundraiser they had with celebrity Kate Ford and she decided to sell some of her stuff, and we had a tombola, ‘name the bear’, homebaking, and facepainting. So far we’ve raised over £300 and there is still money coming in.

‘‘It was lovely that so many people in the village wanted to help and Eva is really looking forward to seeing the bears when they come.”
