The sun shone and smiling faces lined the streets for the ‘best ever’ Ferry Fair weekend.

A festive atmosphere swept through the burgh as the Queen’s Procession made their way to the crowning ceremony.

Chairman David Steel thinks this year’s fair was the best he’s seen in 25 years.

He said: “The weather was fine which helped to bring out the crowds and the parade was well organised.

“All the children were terrific and I’m pleased that in my first year as chairman it all went so well.”

The new Queen, Alexandra Lane, received her crown during a well attended crowning ceremony from the Gracious Lady, Moira Sinclair.

David Steel hailed the entertainment for the afternoon, Splash, as excellent. He said: “The band went down very well with the crowd.”

Organiser Jane Forrester said the weather on Friday
afternoon meant events were not as well attended as she would have expected but the crowds on Saturday more than made up for that.

She said: “It really was a fantastic day and the whole week went well.”

On Friday the Burry Man did a tour of the burgh, stopping for a few snaps along the way, and various sporting events were staged earlier in the week.
