From the editor’s chair

This makes me officially contrary, but what’s with this weather? Having had our summer, no doubt, with nearly three weeks of decent sunshine I will admit I was hoping for a wee drop of rain for the garden.

I did not order up this biblical torrent that’s currently bouncing off my office roof, and which caused brief, but catastrophic, localised flooding this week.

I was driving from Linlithgow to Bo’ness on Tuesday night and really wished I had bought an ark.

My grumbles aside I really feel for the firms and businesses caught out by it all. Problems exacerbated by stone hard ground, overfilled gullies and, in some cases, missing lead roofs. Bring back summer.
