Fundraise for Breakthrough Breast Cancer

YOU can help keep breast cancer on the run by making 2011 your fittest year ever.

Breakthrough Breast Cancer is urging people to challenge themselves to a year of fitness and fundraising.

The charity is calling on fitness fanatics and novices alike to lace up their trainers and don their sports vests this January, to make 2011 their fittest yet!

With the inevitable over-indulgence of Christmas well underway, January is the perfect time to start thinking about burning off those Christmas calories and raising money for a great cause in the process.

There are all sorts of opportunities to get fit and raise money for Breakthrough's life saving research, from fun runs to marathons.

No event is too small and the Breakthrough Running Club www.breakthrough.org.uk/running_club is there to support you every step of the way.

All funds raised go straight towards the charity's research, campaigning and education work, helping to establish a future free from the fear of breast cancer.

Emma Cornish, the charity's Events Fundraising Executive, said: "2011 is the year to get fit and join in the fight against breast cancer.

"There are lots of great sporting events which anyone can take part in – you don't have to be a professional athlete to join in, all you need is determination and dedication and we'll help with the rest!

"In the first couple of months of next year alone, you could choose to run in the addidas Silverstone half marathon, the Meadows half marathon and 5k fun run or the Reading half marathon.

" We've even got charity places left for the brilliant Brighton marathon.

"And don't forget, if you have managed to secure your own place in any major events including the Virgin London or Brighton marathon and wish to use it to support Breakthrough do let us know by emailing us at running@breakthrough.org.uk and we'll welcome you straight onto our team.

"What better new year's resolution is there than to get fit AND help fund vital research which could make all the difference for the 46,000 women and 300 men who are diagnosed with breast cancer every year."
