THE awards ceremony for this year’s West Lothian Gardens Competition has been held in Linlithgow’s Burgh Halls.
The annual competition has been run for the past 35 years by West Lothian Council and this year attracted a bumper number of entries.
The Oatridge Award was presented to John Cadzow of Winchburgh by judge George Gilchrist (pictured, right). John’s garden was one of only two gold medal winners in this year’s competition.
George said: “It was encouraging to the see the numbers of entries increase despite the poor weather.
The year’s weather seemed to continue our run of wet summers but three factors made this year particularly challenging.’’
Tom Conn, executive councillor for the environment, added: “The standard of entries was excellent and I’d like to pay tribute to everyone that took time to take part.”
