QUIDS in this new year were three lucky ladies, each pocketing a share of £500 to spend in Bo’ness shops.
A festive shopping crawl scheme saw entrants visiting 22 town centre businesses and collecting a stamp or signature, to enter the free draw.
It was part of a national initiative to get people to support stores on their doorstep, organised in Bo’ness by town centre management with local traders.
Delighted Shona Mitchell, of Fountainpark Crescent, won the first prize of £300 in Bo’ness cheques to spend in any of the participating businesses.
She said: “It was great to win the prize. All the shops taking part were so welcoming.”
Two runners up - Arlene Grant of Dugald Stewart Avenue, Bo’ness and Heather Baird of Central Drive, Stenhousemuir - each scooped £100 in vouchers.
The winners were drawn on Christmas Eve by Bo’ness councillor Adrian Mahoney, who also attended the Hogmanay presentation.
He said: “I’d like to thank all the people who took part in the competition and all the retailers who supported it.”
Val Trotter of Pebbles - one of the shops taking part - said: “The shopping crawl has been a fun way to thank people for shopping locally and supporting independent retailers.
“Here’s hoping people continue to support local businesses in 2013.”
