THE starting gun went off for community projects headed by the Linlithgow Community Development Trust this week.
West Lothian Council agreed to give £20,000 to the local CDT in a new pilot scheme for West Lothian where land will be leased from the council at Kettilstoun Mains.
As reported in last week’s Journal and Gazette, the first project will be creating sports and community facilities. The Trust is focusing on football facilities and allotments but is welcoming ideas from other local groups.
Fiona Low, chairwoman of the Kettilstoun Mains residents’ group, said: “This is great news as community gardening is a boost for people’s health and well-being, strengthening ties that bring neighbourhoods together, developing surrounding land and promoting further visitors to the town.
“We welcome the funding to improve facilities where safe and supervised sporting proposals bring communities together and respects local residents.”
