BO’NESS fundraisers have slam dunked over £3000 into a kitty for Strathcarron Hospice and MacMillan Cancer Support.
A charity basketball tournament, plus disco, auction and raffle last Saturday, combined with an earlier West Highland Way walk, has seen around £3400 roll in so far for the good causes.
They are particularly close to the hearts of Bo’ness friends Derek Frank and Euan Grant, who organised the events after several cancer-related deaths, including Euan’s dad James, last summer.
At Bo’ness Academy on Saturday morning 12 teams lined up on the basketball courts, with friendly competition in keeping with the spirit of the day.
West Lothian Golf Club was then the venue for the evening’s entertainment.
Derek and Euan were this week overwhelmed by all the great support they have had, from cash and prize donations to free facilities and people’s time.
The £1200 from Euan’s 96-mile walk will go to Strathcarron, and Saturday’s funds will be split with MacMillan.
