The Scottish Government claims that people could be doing a lot more to help save costs on home energy.
However, not everyone is financially able or willing to invest in heating or insulation upgrades.
And generally it’s the poorest who are hardest hit.
With that in mind, the Scottish Government is offering home energy advice for free to anyone in Scotland via the Home Energy Scotland hotline.
Free insulation and central heating is also available through various Scottish Government schemes including Home Energy Efficiency Programmes for Scotland.
The Home Energy Scotland hotline’s expert advisers can tell callers which of these government initiatives they qualify for, as well as giving personalised advice on how to make your own home more efficient.
For further information visit the website: www.energysavingtrust.org.uk/scotland/Take-action/Home-Energy-Scotland/Home-Energy-Efficiency-Programmes-for-Scotland or call the helpline free on 0808 808 2282. Advisers are available Monday to Friday 9am to 8pm or Saturday 10am to 2pm.
Greener Scotland is one of the five strategic objectives which support the Scottish Government’s proposal.
The broad aims are to improve Scotland’s natural and built environment and the sustainable use and enjoyment of it.
Within the ten key greener behaviours, four relate to home energy use – heating with the most efficient systems, keeping the heat in with insulation, managing home heat and saving energy/electricity.
