The success of the Forth Road Bridge open week in June help raise a bumper sum for charity.

Ten tours of the bridge auctioned on ebay raised in excess of £3500 and another three were sold by charities raising the total to over £4000.

Bridge workers voted for which charities they wanted to support and last week, the bridge’s chief engineer Barry Colford presented a cheque for £2588 to Dunfermline FC’s director of football, Jim Leishman for the Mary Leishman Foundation, in memory of his late wife.

The other charities to benefit were Maggies Centres, Ray of Sunshine, CHAS, SSPCA, Guide Dogs for the Blind, Riding for the Disabled, Cancer Research UK and Queensferry Churches Care in the Community.
