2012 IS the year of the Queen’s Jubilee and West Lothian will join in the celebrations with a lit pyre.

HM the Queen is only the second monarch in history to celebrate 60 years on the throne and to mark the occasion on Monday, June 4, 2012 beacons will be lit across the country including Edinburgh Castle, the Palace of Holyroodhouse and Beecraigs Country Park.

Last November, West Lothian Council agreed to mark an additional day of annual leave on Tuesday, June 5, and arrangements for lighting a beacon at Beecraigs are thought to be put in place at the end of this month, after consultation with the provost and leader of the council.
