THE Illuminate Lantern Procession takes place in Callendar Park, Falkirk, on bonfire night, featuring creative lanterns made by 60 members of the 3rd Bo’ness Scout Group.
The Park Gallery is working with artist Socks Rolland, the Bo’ness youngsters and seven other community groups to produce 200 lanterns during October, with the end result being used in the procession.
“Our lanterns are made out of sticks, special wax tissue paper and an LED tea light, and this creates a striking, glowing pyramid shape!” said Kathyrn Boyle, visual arts assistant at the gallery.
Each participant will march through the park with their lantern at 6.45pm on November 5, led by Puff Uproar Samba Band and filmed by a live stream which will be projected onto Callender House.
“The aim of the project is to highlight our Christmas exhibition Winter Warmth which will run from November 17, 2012, to January 26, 2013,” said Gillian Smith, arts development officer.
