GETTING geared up for the town’s big Spring Clean tomorrow (Saturday) Linlithgow Angling Club (LAC) and Scottish Water (SW) staff cleared tyres, cones and carpets from the Mains Burn on Wednesday.
SW staff were on a “community support day” and Harry Millar of the LAC said: “It was a great job done by the combined LAC and SW teams in the morning session. The target area was Mains Burn from Fisher’s Brae to the confluence with the Avon. We filled a ton bag with filled bags and had plenty more surrounding it.
“Probably some 30 or so bags plus carpets, cones, child’s ride-on buggy, cycle tyres, sledge, plastic pipe, a car seat etc.”
There were 12 all together and in the evening the enthusiasts were out again.
Harry added: “Five Linlithgow Angling Club members went upstream of the bridge at Fisher’s Brae and we collected another ten bags of litter plus four car tyres, traffic cones, plastic pipes etc. We have now completed the Mains Burn from the River Avon confluence up to the motorway.
“A fantastic job done, with many of us surprised at just how much rubbish there was on such a small stretch of water.”
