WITH the weather getting warmer thoughts are turning to Gala Days and none more than Linlithgow lady Marion Sneddon.
Marion (63) has been chosen to crown this year’s gala queen-elect Fiona Tuckett - much to her surprise!
She said: “I was surprised - I had no idea it would be me! I thought when I got the knock at the door that it was to do with my grand- children being involved.
“I’m delighted to be chosen. It’s an honour. It’s not something you can petition to be and it’s really lovely to be asked. It means a lot to me being someone from the town.”
Marion, is a true Black Bitch, and has lived in Linlithgow for most of her life, now staying at Old School Court with husband Richard (65).
She will be known to many in the town as a teacher when she recently retired after 32 years in Linlithgow Primary. And this week Marion went back to school to meet Fiona who she will crown on June 23.
She said: “I had already sent Fiona a card as I wanted to get to know her before the day. She does some visits on the gala day to St Michaels or to Brae Court and I’d be happy to go along with her to that also.”
Marion is involved in a number of community groups including the floral art club and the Guides, and Marion and Richard have two sons and grandchildren Millie (7) and Kerr (4).
