Agilent bow out of Queensferry
AGILENT Technologies will sever links with Queensferry from next week.
The American-based company is relocating to Edinburgh Park and will close on Wednesday, September 1.
The Scotstoun site opened for business back in 1966 when Hewlett Packard set up business and employed over 2000 workers at its peak. In 1999, a spin-off of Hewlett Packard saw Agilent created. The work undertaken at Queensferry focussed mainly on electronic test measurement for the telecoms industry.
Paul Gourlay, a spokesman for Agilent said: "The closure of the Scotstoun site is a very significant event for Agilent and for Queensferry, however we also believe our relocation to Edinburgh Park has been equally significant in that it creates the right facilities and environment for our employees to fulfil the future role of Agilent in Scotland."
