Appeal to return unwanted equipment

AN APPEAL is being made to members of the public to return their unused health or disability equipment.

West Lothian Community Health and Care Partnership (CHCP) helps deliver over 18,000 pieces of equipment every year, which help people stay safe and independent in their own home.

By using state of the art technology their equipment store is able to recycle and re-issue 46 per cent of their stock.

An "equipment amnesty" fortnight is being held from Monday, September 20 to Friday, October 1, to encourage users to arrange for items to be collected that are no longer required, such as unused walking equipment, bed rails and rests, bath hoists and shower chairs/stools.

Ellen Glass, executive councillor for Health and Care said: "Given the current economic climate and the tough choices ahead for public services, I strongly encourage people to help their local community and arrange collection of any unused equipment, which can then be recycled and used again."

To arrange a collection or for further information call West Lothian Equipment Store on 01506 523335, Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm.
