Bridge art winners
THE artistic talent of primary school pupils has been recognised as winners of the Forth Replacement Crossing Schools Painting competition were announced.
FCBC, the contractors responsible for the design and construction of the new bridge being built across the Forth, launched the competition earlier this year.
The theme of the competition, which was open to children in primary classes 5 to 7, was “The Forth Replacement Crossing in the Making”.
Seven schools took part and over 250 entries were received.
The prizes took the form of donations ranging from £500 to £100 from FCBC to the schools represented by the winning artists.
The winning entry was painted by Aimee Middleton (9), from Dalmeny Primary School, with second prize going to Zoey Donaghue (16), from Donaldson’s School in Linlithgow, while third prize went to Declan Morgan (9). Other prizewinners included Clare Donnelly (11), from Springfield Primary, Linlithgow.
Sally Chambers, FCBC assistant community liaison officer, said: “We are absolutely delighted with the response. The children and their teachers really entered into the spirit of the competition.
“The standard of entries was extremely high, making the judging all the more difficult but I’m sure people will agree that we have chosen some terrific paintings as the winners.
‘‘Our thanks go to all the teachers and pupils.”
The winning entries will be turned into posters which will be put on display around the construction site and in FCBC’s offices.
