A QUEENSFERRY primary school is ‘quids in’ thanks to sales of a voucher book to parents.
The cash sum, £156, was raised through sales of the popular discount voucher book – Spree.
The company, which publishes the book, has launched a new scheme for schools and organisations to fundraise through selling the books and Echline Primary was the first school in the Lothians area to take part in the Spree Pupil Enterprise Scheme.
The aim of the scheme is to encourage pupils either as individuals or teams to gain confidence in dealing with people, undertake certain tasks which involve team work, business management, stock management, cash handling and accountability.
The programme aims to encourage pupils to be successful, to understand about completing tasks and enjoy the rewards success brings.
Pupils in primary five took part in the scheme, the first and along with class teacher Louise Tait, they sold 26 books to parents and friends.
Alayne Clark, Edinburgh and Lothian’s franchisee for Spree Books said: “By selling the books, the pupils gained ‘in school’ work experience in stock management, cash handling, presentations, teamwork and reporting skills.
‘‘To mark the successful completion of a fundraising project each pupil involved received a Spree pupil enterprise certificate.”
