EXCITING times are ahead if the Saturday launch of the Linlithgow Community Development Trust is anything to go by.

The well attended Burgh Halls event demonstrated the strength of community-led action that will tackle local projects head on as part of the local Trust.

They also announced an
offer of £50,000 in funding for the initial Kettilstoun Mains project from the Land Trust.

Guest speaker David
McCall from Comrie Development Trust described how they have implemented a range of improvements that have made a real difference to the
community.

Derek Pattle, interim chairman of LCDT, said: “The launch event was very successful in both increasing the membership numbers signed up for the Trust and also gave an opportunity for lively and positive discussion on both the future make-up of the Trust and where it should be
directing its efforts.”

The LCDT is owned by the local community, aims to address economic, social, environmental and cultural issues in the area, and reduce dependency on grant support by generating income through enterprise and asset ownership.

Provost Tom Kerr and CDT secretary, added: “In these times of austerity, there is less and less public money available and the Linlithgow CDT’s main objective is to ensure that the town of Linlithgow can continue to self-fund important local projects. The Trust is led by the community for the benefit of the community, and I believe that exciting opportunities lie ahead.”

A ‘needs survey of Linlithgow’ will be distributed across the town by the end of February so that everyone can have their say on which key projects the Trust should focus on over the next few years. Trust membership is free and membership forms can be collected at the Burgh Halls, Far from the Madding Crowd or at www.trust-
