Linlithgow Burgh Halls back in business

THE Journal and Gazette can exclusively reveal this week that the £5.2million Burgh Halls redevelop-ment is back on track.

Livingston based Maxi Construction Ltd has stepped in as the new contractors for the extensive refurbishment, scheduled to open early in 2011.

The historic building in the heart of Linlithgow was originally due to open this month, but plans were halted when the building contractors, Hunter Clark, went into administration at the end of June.

With just 90 per cent of the building work complete, it was unknown when the Halls would reopen to the public.

But this week West Lothian Council appointed Maxi Construction to take over the job, estimated to take 10 weeks. It will then take around five weeks to fit out the building with fixtures and furniture, with the project remaining in budget.

For the full story, see this week's Journal and Gazette, on sale on Friday, August 27.
