TWO students from the Journal and Gazette area were among five from West Lothian who scooped top awards at the recent annual prizegiving at Oatridge College.
Nathan Cochrane, who is 17 and from Linlithgow, topped his year in the Certificate in Landbased Studies course while Susan Thores (50), from Winchburgh, picked up the prize for the Certificate in Horticulture and Garden Design. Another high achiever was Kirsten Hearn, (20), from East Calder, who was named “best student” in the Higher National Diploma in Animal Care, repeating her success in her Higher National Certificate year while Kenneth Gray (32), from Bathgate, took the top prize in the HNC course in Countryside Management.
Also receiving top marks was 24 year-old Euan Gemmel, from Bathgate, who was “best student” in the HNC course in Landscape Management.
The prizegiving ceremony last Friday brought them face-to-face with an international rugby legend, former England star Matt Dawson.
It was the last annual prizegiving at Oatridge College before it mergers with three others on October 1.
