No ‘realistic’ offers for Star and Garter
091110 star and garter hotel linlithgow
THE future of the Star and Garter remains a big question mark as nobody has put in realistic offers for the property.
This has meant that liquidator Eric Nisbet was appointed to take care of the former hotel’s finances.
He said: “A creditors’ meeting took place on Wednesday, and I was appointed liquidator subject to formal ratification of the court. This was necessitated because the offers received for the Star and Garter were disappointing and considerably lower than expected. No offer was accepted and the liquidator will be seeking to meet with the company’s bankers Lloyds TSB to discuss the various options available regarding the premises at 1 High Street, Linlithgow.”
The three-storey property has been on sale with continued licence use from Christie and Co over the past year after it was reduced to a shell by a fire in October 2010.
