SNP win Bo'ness and Blackness by-election

ANN Ritchie of the SNP has been elected to Falkirk Council as a Bo'ness and Blackness representative.

Yesterday's by-election was held after the death of SNP councillor Harry Constable in September.

Ann Ritchie secured 1604 of first preference votes with Labour's Len Ainslie second with 823.

The Conservative's Lynn Munro got 283 with Gavin Chomczuk of the Liberal Democrats gaining 79.

With a majority of votes at the first stage of counting, Ann Ritchie was duly elected.

She now represents Bo'ness and Blackness along with John Constable (SNP) and Adrian Mahoney (Labour).

For all the reaction don't miss next Friday's Journal and Gazette.
