Vote for the Hippodrome 100th birthday movie

Hippodrome 100. 100 years of the Hippodrome.

Hippodrome 100. 100 years of the Hippodrome.

FORGET the Oscars, the most talked-about film event in town takes place at the Bo’ness Hippodrome on March 11.

That is when Louis Dickson’s architectural gem, and Scotland’s oldest picture palace, marks its centenary in style.

Thanks to an exclusive competition with our partners at Falkirk Community Trust, Journal and Gazette readers will decide which film makes the final cut from a shortlist of seven, to be screened on the historic occasion.

The movies in the Hippodrome 100 Centenary Poll have been specially chosen by the cinema’s programmer, Alison Strauss, due to their links with momentous events of the Hippodrome’s opening year, 1912.

For the full story, the movie shortlist, and your voting coupon, don’t miss this week’s Journal and Gazette, February 3 edition, out today.
