WORK started this week at Linlithgow Burgh Halls to protect the historic building from severe weather.

A West Lothian Council spokesman said: “Following consultation with a specialist who has experience working on historic buildings, preventative measures were identified to protect Linlithgow Burgh Halls from
damage in severe weather.

“Snow boards and a trace heating system are being installed to the parapet gutters, to protect the building if we experience severe snowfall and to prevent ice from
forming.”

The work is expected to be completed by the end of
February, weather permitting. The Burgh Halls re-opened in 2011 after a £5.2 million restoration process.
