Cancer group honoured for campaign

Members of Forth Valley Prostate Cancer Support Group have been applauded following Prostate Cancer UK being named gold winner at the 2013 Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) Scotland PRide Awards.

 

A local support group whose members have been affected by prostate cancer have been praised for their role in a successful national campaign to make a new drug available to men on NHS Scotland.

Members of Forth Valley Prostate Cancer Support Group have been applauded following Prostate Cancer UK being named gold winner at the 2013 Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) Scotland PRide Awards.

Prostate Cancer UK won Best Public Affairs Campaign for its successful campaign to get the life-enhancing and life-prolonging prostate cancer drug, abiraterone, approved on NHS Scotland.

The charity has highlighted the work of Forth Valley Prostate Cancer Support Group who lobbied their MSPs on the matter, as 
being instrumental to this success.

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men and, by 2030, is predicted to be the most common cancer overall.
