West Lothian Council has issued advice for school leavers ahead of the exam results, which are due to be issued on Tuesday, August 5.
The message is if you have not decided on your next move - don’t panic there is plenty of help and support available.
Executive councillor for education Lawrence Fitzpatrick commented: “Exam results will be pinging into mobile phones and email boxes and dropping through letterboxes across West Lothian on Tuesday, August 5.
“We know that there may be pupils who don’t get the grades that they need in order to get onto the course that they want.
‘‘Also some pupils may not have decided what they are going to do yet and they are waiting for their results.
“Our message to young people is don’t panic if you don’t get the results that you want, or if you haven’t organised your next move.
‘‘Help and support is available.”
For anyone who does not get the results they were hoping for, Skills Development Scotland Careers adviser Ruth Scott said: “Our advisers can give you lots of information on Clearing, resits and appeals.
‘‘They can also chat to you about other options besides going to university and college, such as doing a Modern Apprenticeship, gaining work experience and alternative options for your year ahead.”
