Bo’ness drummer Charlie Archibald swapped east for west and found fresh success.
Former Boghall and Bathgate tenor drummer Charlie (25) went through the youth system and into the adult band but joined Johnstone Pipe Band when he moved west.
And at the weekend his new band took the Scottish title, hot on the heels of success at UK and European level in the past month.
Although Johnstone play at grade three, compared to grade one with Boghall and Bathgate, Charlie, who attended Grange Primary and Bo’ness Academy, said the sense of achievement was the same.
“It’s been one of the best experiences of my life.
“I am one of the older ones in the section and have been helping teach them. It’s been an honour to work with them.”
The Scottish Championships were held at Dumbarton at the weekend.
This season the band has taken part in 12 contests, winning 11, and also played on the Queen’s Commonwealth Baton Relay route through Paisley.
