It seems hardly a day goes by without a new report citing the health of our children as a major problem.

And only this week came a shock warning that, if things continue as they are, today’s youngsters won’t be expected to reach the same age their grandparents did.
Bad diet, lack of exercise and a continuing fascination with alcohol are all taking their toll.
It’s a sad state of affairs and one that there isn’t a single answer to.
Plenty of intiatives have been launched but they will take time to bear fruit.
One of the best things we can do is get our children away from their computer screens and enjoying sport instead.
That’s why plans for a new multi-million pound sports facility at Kettilstoun are good news.
Let’s hope they succeed.
