A Bo’ness mum is looking forward to sharing her musical skills with youngsters in a new class.
Karynna Baird will hold Musical Steps classes, which give children a taster of different musical instruments and sounds.
The 30-year-old has played piano since she was seven and has been teaching the instrument for 12 years. She also has an HND in musicianship.
Karynna, who has two children – Lucia who is seven months and Aaron who is three – decided to start the classes after struggling to find something similar for her own children to attend.
A former member of Falkirk Youth Theatre, Karynna said: “Being a musician myself, I was keen to find a class for my children.
“There wasn’t anything in this area so I decided it was something I could do and it fits into my family time too.
“When I applied for the course to become a Musical Steps teacher, I was not just accepted but invited to St Andrews for a fast track 1-2-1 course because of my musical background. I’m really excited about it.”
Musical Steps was founded by Cathy McCallum in 2002 after the birth of her first son.
The classes aim to improve and develop a child’s communication, language and listening skills as well as encouraging creativity and co-operation.
This is done through a whole range of educational, fun-filled activities.
The first class takes place at Cowdenhill Community Hall on Tuesday, April 22, from 9.40-10.20 a.m. for the Toddler Troupe and 10.30 -11a.m. for the Baby Band.
