Students at Linlithgow Academy are being taught the art of fencing by one of the country’s top rated coaches.
Scott McMenemy, the coach at Linlithgow Academy’s fencing club recently qualified as a Maitre d’escrime (Master of Fencing).
This rarely awarded qualification now provides the Academy club with one of the most highly decorated coaching teams in Scotland.
If Scott achieves the same level in the foil and sabre he will achieve the award of Professeur d’escrime - the highest possible level which fencing coaches can attain.
Scott, a former Bo’ness Academy student, fenced at both Scottish and GB level when he was aged 15 and 16 and now coaches for British Academy of Fencing.
Scott has also been selected to compete in the British Academy of Fencing’s team at the World Championship of Fencing Masters, held in Pratto, Italy in August.
