Residents will soon benefit from longer hours and a modern look in their local post office.
Bo’ness Post Office at East Pier Street is being modernised into a new main-style open-plan branch with longer opening hours for customers.
The changes come as part of the Post Office’s plans to modernise the network and extend the service hours for customers,
There will be three serving positions - one will be screened and two will be open-plan.
The Post Office itself will open from 9am-5.30pm, Monday to Saturday giving customers five extra hours a week in which to access Post Office products and services.
Post Office area manager Damian Mulholland said: “We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in Bo’ness.
“We are confident that this new modern Post Office service will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.”
“This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and marks a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.”
Under the current Parliament the Government has committed £1.34 billion for the Post Office network to make sure there is no programme of Post Office closures and to update branches.
A further £640 million investment in the Post Office network, from 2015 to 2018, was announced by the government in November.
Nationwide the investment programme will see up to 8000 branches modernised with additional investment in over 3000 community and outreach branches.
The Post Office, now independent of Royal Mail, is the largest retail network in the UK, with over 11,500 branches.
It is also one of the fastest growing financial services companies and is developing its online and telephone services.
In order for the work to be carried out, Bo’ness Post Office will close from 5.30pm on Thursday, May 8, with the new-look branch opening at 1pm on Friday, May 16.
Alternative Post Office branches including Newtown Post Office, Baker Street, Boness, Maidenpark Post Office, Gilburn Place,Bo’ness, and Linlithgow Post Office, 266 High Street, will look after the needs of customers.
Remember, not all Post Offices offer the full range of services.
