The Bo’ness community has been left in shock after the sudden death of an 11-year-old schoolboy at the weekend.
Jay Young, a primary seven pupil at Deanburn Primary school, died suddenly and unexpectedly on Sunday, March 23.
Mhairi Ogilvie, the school’s head teacher, said: “We were all very shocked and saddened to hear that Jay had died.
“He was a lively boy and was looking forward to starting secondary in August.
“He liked school and especially enjoyed helping with the younger children.
“We will all miss him and our thoughts and deepest sympathy are with his family.”
Jay, who has a brother Logan (8), was to be a Guard of Honour in this year’s Bo’ness Fair festival.
Posting the news on the fair’s Facebook page, the executive committee said: “Jay will be sadly missed by his family, all his school friends and those in his close community. At this time our condolences go to his family and everyone who knew him.”
St Andrew’s Church will be open from 3.30-5.30 pm today (Friday) for anyone who wants to add to the prayer tree.
