Queensferry Rowing Club is to host the inaugural Alan Meldrum Community Challenge at Port Edgar Marina tomorrow (Saturday).
Alan Meldrum was vice-captain and a founding member of Queensferry Rowing Club in 2011.
When Mel, as he was known locally, passed away in 2013 the club thought it would be appropriate to hold an event in his memory to bring the community together.
The challenge will honour the memory of a man who did so much to establish the club.
A number of local businesses and organisations will race against each other including Police Scotland, Hopetoun Estate, Scotmid, Queensferry Medical Practice, Queensferry Churches Care in the Community, a Scottish Parliament broadcasting team and representatives of the new Forth Crossing.
Heats will be held at 11am, noon and 1pm with the final at 2.30pm.
After the final there will be sessions for anyone who wants to give rowing a try.
The challenge is going ahead with the assistance of North Queensferry Rowing Club, ActivCity funding and the City of Edinburgh Council.
