An alleged sexual assault at Donaldson’s School in Linlithgow last February is still under investigation.
Police are looking into claims that a 16-year-old girl was attacked in one of the school toilets by one of her classmates, also 16.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Following a report of sexual assault in February 2013, police launched an investigation to determine the full circumstances surrounding this incident.
‘‘A male youth was subject to joint agency interview and assessment and a full report was submitted to the social work department, with recommendations made to the school.”
He added: “Detectives continue to pursue lines of inquiry into this matter and are keeping the victim’s family fully updated as to the progress of this investigation, while at the same time offering them appropriate advice, guidance and support.”
Staff at Donaldson’s said they had been unaware the investigation was continuing.
Mary Mulligan, convenor of the Board of Governors of Donaldson’s Trust, said: “The police Child Protection Team carried out a full investigation which resulted in no case being proven and no charges being brought.
“As far as the school was aware, the case was closed and the police were notifying the families of that fact.
“No information to the contrary has been advised to the school, and we continue to provide information on the ongoing support in place.”
