A local carpet retailer in Linlithgow High Street has been placed on the sex offenders register for a period of three years.
Frank Tomlin, (57), was caught with 15 videos depicting indecent images of young children on his home computer.
Appearing at Falkirk Sheriff Court last week, the businessman pled guilty to one of two charges on the indictment that between September 27 and October 14, 2013, he took or permitted to be taken indecent photographs of children.
Tomlin sat with his head bowed in the dock as Sheriff William Gallacher sentenced him to be placed on the sex offenders register for three years, and that he complete 150 hours of supervised work as part of a community payback order.
Sheriff Gallacher said: “This was a serious offence and one the community is repelled by.
“I am told you are embarrassed and ashamed, and so you should be. It is not without some hesitation I’ve reached the conclusion I don’t have to send you to prison, however that was a very close call.”
