SLIDESHOW -Rock school strikes a chord

Waiting for Video...

Youngsters had a rock ‘n rolling Easter time as they took their turn in the spotlight.

Over two days, the Rock Skool at St Andrew’s Parish Church introduced the children - aged 10 to 16 - to a whole host of skills which are needed when playing in a band.

The project is run jointly between Craig Hannah of the Cozy Blanket Youth Project and Robin Robertson of Central Guitar Tuition.

They work together with Sanctus Media and St Andrew’s Church with funding from Youth Scotland.

Many of the tutors are current or former students at Edinburgh College where Robinis a lecturer.

Workshops included vocal techniques, setting up a sound system, playing together in a band and using equipment, as well as coaching in guitar, bass guitar and drums.

Last Thursday the participants took part in a small concert for family and friends and on Friday a number of them contributed to a guitar concert in aid of Childline. The gig raised over £400 for the charity.

A DVD of the concert is available to buy in aid of Childline - go to www.sanctusmedia.com/store
