A 17-year-old youth has been arrested and charged with a serious assault in Linlithgow after a 19-year-old was stabbed.

The incident, which has shocked locals who woke up to find a high police presence in the locality, took place in the St Ninian’s Road area of the town in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

The teenager was involved in a scuffle with the unnamed 19-year-old male victim who received a single stab wound to his thigh and was rushed to Forth Valley Royal Hospital where he was detained overnight.

His injuries are not thought to be life threatening and medical staff have said he is in a stable condition.

Officers taped off areas around St Ninian’s Road and St Ninian’s Avenue for most of Wednesday.

It is understood that the specialist search team was seeking the knife involved in the stabbing.

Andrew Rodden (17), was due to appear on petition at Livingston Sheriff Court yesterday (Thursday).

As we went to press (4pm) there was no indictation as to his fate.
