West Lothian Council has welcomed the news that businesses in Linlithgow have backed plans to develop two Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) in the town.
The BID project in Linlithgow has been split into two – Mill Road Industrial Park and Linlithgow Town Centre.
Both areas voted yes to the proposals outlined in the business plans, which included access and traffic management, business facilitation, marketing and promotion, technology and presentation and safety and security.
Executive councillor for development and transport Cathy Muldoon said: “This is a really excellent result for Linlithgow.
“We are absolutely delighted that local businesses in both areas recognised the significant benefits available in the creation of Business Improvement Districts.
“Now that a successful ballot has been returned, the council will match- fund the Linlithgow BID in the first year up to a maximum of £80,000 as agreed in the council’s revenue budget earlier this year.
“I would like to congratulate the team which has worked hard to progress the plan and the ballot.”
