Primary pupils from across West Lothian are set to continue benefiting from West Lothian Council’s Learn to Swim Plus programme.
The programme aims to deliver a project to children, mostly primary 5 pupils, who have been identified as non-swimmers. It is run by West Lothian Leisure and Community School staff across West Lothian, includingXcite in Linlithgow.
So far this academic year, 102 children have learned to swim as a result of taking the free lessons. Last year, a total of 126 children could swim after the sessions.
Executive Councillor for Culture and Leisure, Dave King, added: “It is very important that children learn to swim. Swimming is an important life skill and also enables the children to be healthy and active.”
