A Linlithgow charity fundraiser who has been selected to run in the Commonwealth Games baton relay has been banned from fishing at the loch.
Davie ‘Deep Sea’ Paterson, who was nominated by several local charities he raised funds for, is furious at the decision by the Forth Area Federation of Anglers (FAFA).
The group which manages fishing on Linlithgow Loch, via a lease issued by Historic Scotland, has banned him for life from the rainbow trout stocked water.
Davie has received no formal notification from the committee but was advised verbally last week.
Andrew McAlpine, FAFA’s secretary, was unable to confirm the date the committee met to agree the ban or what it was issued for.
However, he confirmed that the group had no appeal procedure for anglers.
Davie said that he had been accused of fishing for pike instead of trout.
But Andrew said that the Federation actually currently licences two anglers to fish for pike specifically.
