LOCAL farms will play a key role in the nation’s success at the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Scottish 200 and 400m champion Lee McConnell visited Kipps Farm in Linlithgow which specialises in quality beef and is one of the 17,500 British and Irish farms that supply food for the McDonald’s menu, providing meals for what will be the world’s largest peacetime catering operation in 2012.
Scott Aitken at Kipps Farm said: “I’m absolutely delighted that we’ve been selected to open our gates to the general public, and the whole family is looking forward to meeting Lee McConnell. It’s a great chance for us to show people what we do on the farm and that it’s not just people in London who are involved in the success of the Olympic Games.”
Warren Anderson, head of supply chain for McDonald’s UK, added: “The farms supplying our restaurants, and the Olympics and Paralympics next year are standard bearers in terms of exacting quality and welfare standards.”
