Tomorrow (Saturday) the leading star of the show in Kirkliston will be Megan Hughes and she can barely contain her excitement at being Queen-elect.
Megan (11) said: “I am so excited! I was nervous about my speech but I now know it off by heart now so I can’t wait.”
The family at Buie Rigg are busy decorating the house with a Hollywood theme, complete with VIP signs, a red carpet and fun background shots.
Megan added: “I have family in Wales and Canada who have been sending me really nice cards wishing me luck and saying they are proud of me, and they will be read out on the gala day.”
And Megan isn’t the only girl in her family getting involved in the big day as her little sister Emily (5) will be wearing wings as a fairy, and wee brother Dean (3) will also be in the parade with his nursery friends.
The crowner at Kirkliston gala day will be Mrs Margaret Brechin, nominated for her outstanding contribution to the village.
The gala day parade will start at 11am, leaving from Allison Park and returning on the usual route. The crowning ceremony follows at 11.45am, and the carnival will be opened by Queen-elect Megan Hughes at 12.30pm.
