MSP for Falkirk East constituency Angus MacDonald has tabled a motion in the Scottish Parliament congratulating Scotland’s oldest purpose built cinema, the Bo’ness Hippodrome, as it celebrated its 100th anniversary.

Speaking in Parliament, Angus MacDonald MSP said: “I am delighted to wish the Bo’ness Hippodrome a happy 100th birthday. It is testament to all the hard work of numerous people and agencies that Scotland’s first ever purpose built cinema has been resurrected and is providing entertainment to residents from Bo’ness and beyond.

“I would like to particularly congratulate the Scottish Historic Buildings Trust, Falkirk Council, the Heritage Lottery Fund, Creative Scotland, Regional Screen Scotland and the Bo’ness Townscape Heritage Initiative for working together to ensure the survival of the Hippodrome.

‘‘Thanks to all for their hard work and vision, I’m sure the Hippodrome has many more years of entertainment to provide to local residents and I wish the cinema continued success for the future.”
