Mum pleads for drivers to cut their speed

FEARS have been voiced for pedestrians’ safety as new drainage is installed on Cadzow Avenue, Bo’ness.

Anxious mum Fiona Hamilton said drivers are using excessive speed in the Cadzow Avenue, Muirepark Court and Birkhill Crescent area despite the roadworks.

Falkirk Council this week said the drainage works were behind schedule because of the bad weather in January and February and it would be the end of June at the earliest before the work would be completed.

Traffic management has been dealt with by the project contractor and no issues had been made apparent to the council said the spokesman.

But Fiona insisted: ‘‘The majority of houses in this street have your children, including myself, and it’s getting to the stage where you have to watch them leaving your house and watching until they walk along the path into their friend’s garden just a few doors along.

‘‘The additional traffic round the street is heavy and the speeds at which the cars are travelling is disgusting.’’

A spokeswoman for Central Scotland Police told the Journal and Gazette that the force was unaware of any problems in the area but would continue to monitor the situation.
