the new commuter car park at Linlithgow Sports Club opened this week.
The free car park between the sports club and Linlithgow Cricket Club can be accessed from the B9080 Edinburgh Road and will provide 77 public parking spaces, including five disabled bays for drivers.
Martyn Day, executive councillor for development and transport, said: “I believe that this news will be welcomed by Linlithgow residents and users of the car park and surrounding areas. It will certainly help ease on street parking within Linlithgow and will provide additional parking facilities for users of the cricket club and sports club.
“This is good news and it’s a good start.”
The work also included drainage and cycle path improvements in the area. It is hoped the extra spaces will help relieve parking issues on the road network around the railway station, particularly in the Clarendon area.
A waiting restrictions proposal for Clarendon/Manse Road will be decided over the next few weeks at a meeting of West Lothian’s Council Executive.
Work on the car park began last December.
