ONE of Linlithgow’s best loved glory holes Town and County Antiques is changing hands.

Customers can pop along to the High Street shop tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon to mark the end of an era as owners Martha Flynn and Alex Elliott hand over the keys to Jill and Derek Pattle.

Martha, who is based in East Lothian, is retiring after 16 years in the town, adding: “I have been amazed at the customer’s response - one woman was in tears as she thought we were closing, but the business will go on.

“I would like to thank all the customers for their support over the years and I hope they will give their support to the new owners. It’s a difficult time for town High Streets and it’s good it will be kept on by local people. We provide something different and have nice customers.”

Martha is looking forward to playing golf and business partner Alex hopes to see more of his grandchildren.

New owner Jill Pattle, who also manages the Linlithgow Bookshop and Little Owls Bookshop in the town, added: “I am excited about it. It is a super feature in the High Street and it draws people from all over Scotland to Linlithgow.”
