The prestigious West Lothian Festival of Brass is back with an exciting new format.
West Lothian Council in association with the Scottish Brass Band Association will host the big event at Howden Park Centre in Livingston on Sunday, June 10, from 2pm.
This year’s event will see six of the country’s top bands - Lochgelly, Kirkintilloch Band, Bo’ness, Kingdom Brass, Co-op Funeralcare and Exchange Communications Whitburn Band – compete for a number of prizes, including the much sought-after West Lothian Festival of Brass 2012 trophy and £500 prize money.
A West Lothian Council spokesperson said: “The West Lothian Festival Brass is now in its 11th year and is a well established date in the brass band calendars attracting the top bands from across the country.”
This year’s event will add to the excitement by changing the format so the whole competition takes place on one day, rather than over three.
Each band will perform a 25 minute programme of music, followed by a 15 minute interval to allow for stage changes. The adjudicators for this year’s festival are Ray Farr and Alan Fernie.
