Noise survey ahead of bus decision

A DECISION about a Bo’ness bus depot proposal will be made once a noise survey assessment is finished and information given to Falkirk Council planning committee.

On Wednesday councillors agreed to continue First Scotland’s application to park, wash and refuel buses on land leased from DJ Manning Auctioneers until May’s meeting.

The Bridgeness Road plans have attracted 32 letters of objection, including one from Bo’ness Community Council, and three in support.

Concerned residents attending a site visit on April 4 raised issues of potential noise and traffic volumes.

First Bus said there would be at most 42 journeys to and from the site in 24 hours, between approximately 5.30am and 12.30am.

They are agreeable to a planning condition limiting operating hours, but said this would have a knock-on effect for bus services in the area.

All buses exiting the site would avoid Carriden Brae, instead using Bridgeness Road, and there’d be one fuel delivery a week during daytime.
