Pupils from Kirkliston Primary School have chosen their Queen and her court for the Gala Day.

Abigail Jardine is this year’s Queen and is really looking forward to the parade.

She said: “I am really excited to be the Queen and the best bit of being involved will be being in the parade. That is my favourite part of the day.”

Abigail was shocked when she found out she was going to be this year’s Queen. She said: “I was really surprised but everyone in my class is very happy for me.”

David Westwater and Mark Henderson are the Queen’s Guard, Katie Dobson is the Lady in Waiting, David Gill is the Herald and Cherieleigh Brown is the Queen of Flowers.

Jemma Malcolm is the Queen of Fairies, Daniel Craig is the Queen’s Champion, Asher Kuzma is Head of the Highlands, Finlay Blain is the Crown Bearer and Jake Ross is the Sceptre Bearer.

The Primary 1 Braw Lads are Alfie Drake and Louie Robb, and the Primary 1 Bouquet Lassies are Emma Sansom and Sophia Skinner.

Grace Walker is the Crowner for 2016 and has the responsibility of crowning Abigail on the big day.

The celebration is in its 82nd year and usually takes place on the second Saturday in June with a week of activities culminating in the crowning of the Queen.
